MSV Duisburg has now also presented its first winter signing. Reinforcements for the midfield are coming from the second division.
Just in time for the departure to the training camp in Belek (Turkey), Aljaz Casar joins MSV Duisburg. On Friday afternoon, December 2, the Zebras presented their new central midfielder. Forecasting had already announced the transfer exclusively.
“We’ve had Aljaž on our radar for a long time, so we’re all the more delighted that we now have the opportunity to convince him to join us. He’s a very strong runner and an active player, and his game is characterized by courage and commitment—exactly the qualities that will greatly enrich our midfield,” said Chris Schmoldt, sporting director of MSV Duisburg.
Casar has made twelve appearances in the current second division season – mostly as a substitute, however. He has made three starts and nine substitute appearances. In Dresden’s promotion season, the 2024/25 campaign, he was still largely a regular as a center back and central midfielder.
“I’m really looking forward to this challenge. I know the arena from my own experience and I know what great fans the club has. We have a really good team here, and with this mix on the pitch and in the stands, we’ll be able to achieve a lot together,” he said of his new role.

Now Casar, who can play in central defense, defensive midfield, and central midfield, is coming. After playing in his home country of Slovenia and for SCR Altach in Austria, Casar made the move to Germany in the summer of 2021—more specifically, to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II in the Regionalliga Südwest.
After just one year, he moved on to Halleschen FC in the 3. Liga. Just two years later, he joined Dynamo Dresden. In total, Casar has already played 97 third division games, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
MSV coach Dietmar Hirsch is looking forward to a physically strong new addition. “With Aljaž, we are getting a physically very strong midfielder who is good in tackles but also demands the ball. As a person, he is open and respectful—this combination will give our game even more stability.”
