Instead of another clear victory, RWE II had no game in the Kreisliga B. The reason is the first withdrawal of a team.
In Kreisliga B, Rot-Weiss Essen II wanted to keep its clean sheet against TuS 84/10 Essen. It could have been a high victory, if one looks at the previous games of the two teams.
But during the week, TuS 84/10 announced the withdrawal of their first team from the Kreisliga B. The club’s Facebook page read: “It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to withdraw our first team and the Ü32 from the game. We felt things were getting better after the last few years at the start of the season. We had motivated players and that – although as a rather small club we could not promise them any money. Unfortunately, the participation in training collapsed after a short time and, as every year, the usual few players were always on the pitch and the rest stayed away. For the games, usually just enough players turned up to compete.”
Therefore, on 8 September, the decision was taken to deregister the teams. Previously, twelve players informed the club that they would not be coming. Hence, the club stated, “Thus, we had to take this decision. We are very sorry for the few players who stood faithfully behind the club and tried everything again and again. For TuS 84/10 Essen e.V. this is unfortunately a very sad step, but before we have to cancel games every week and pay fines every week, this is unfortunately the only right way for us.”
This means the team has been confirmed as the first to be relegated, and all games will be taken out of the reckoning. RWE II, however, still remain first because they have the best goal difference (+22) with one game less.
DJK Adler Union Frintrop III are tied for second place after a 3-2 win at SG Essen-Schönebeck III. Behind them are three teams with ten points, including SuS Haarzopf III and Ballfreunde Bergeborbeck, who drew 3-3 in the top match.
