Just six months after his departure from VfL Bochum, he has now returned to Germany. Danny Blum has signed with second division side 1. FC Nürnberg.
1. FC Nürnberg has signed Danny Blum to a “strongly performance-related” contract. The eleventh-placed team in the 2nd Bundesliga made the announcement on Friday. According to media reports, the employment contract is initially valid until the end of the season.
“The coach and sporting director approached me with the wish that we would benefit from another alternative on the flank. Danny is still very present in our minds from his time in Germany. He confirmed the positive impression in the training sessions. The deal is economically viable for us,” said Dieter Hecking, FCN’s Director of Sport.
Sporting director Olaf Rebbe added: “Danny Blum was playing in Cyprus until the end of December and can therefore integrate quickly with us. He has proven his sporting abilities in several stations. “
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder had only moved to APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus in July 2022 after three years with VfL Bochum. The contract was terminated last Saturday. He then trained with the club. He was already under contract there between 2014 and 2016.
“I am very happy to be able to play for the club again,” said Blum and added: “I had two great years here and now want to help play a good and successful second half of the season. The desire to play in the FCN jersey once again was clearly in the foreground for me, as opposed to monetary interests.”
Blum, who will join his twelve-year younger brother Shawn in Nuremberg, played 64 competitive games (15 goals, 17 assists) for VfL Bochum between 2019 and 2022. In the 2020/2021 promotion season, he contributed four goals and four assists. In the 1. Bundesliga Blum was subsequently slowed down by injury problems.
