Heisinger SV wants to quickly correct their relegation. One transfer is causing a stir.
Heisinger SV were relegated to Kreisliga A in the recently concluded season in the Bezirksliga Niederrhein 7. Only 27 points were scored, too few to keep them in the league. They were seven points away from the bottom of the league. With more than 100 goals conceded, it is certainly difficult or even impossible to stay in the league.
But the relegation should only be an operational accident, because those responsible are planning a quick return to the district league. To achieve this goal, a real sensation has been signed up for the coming season in the Kreisliga A.
According to the Heisinger, Kai von der Gathen is joining HSV. He brings with him experience from the Regionalliga, the Oberliga Niederrhein and the former NRW-Liga.
Van der Gathen played over 100 times in the Oberliga (18 goals) and 40 times in the Junior Bundesliga (eleven goals for Rot-Weiss Essen). He made four appearances for RWE in the Regionalliga.
But that was several years ago, and now the 33-year-old wants to help the future A-League team celebrate direct promotion. Heisingen are planning to use van der Gathen in attack.
Heisingen coach Slavko Franjic emphasised after the transfer: “It is obvious that there are numerous interested parties when a player like Kai is on the market. That’s why I’m very happy that Kai decided in favour of HSV despite numerous and lucrative offers and that I was able to convince him of my concept and of HSV during the talks. Kai has a fine character and will be a great asset to the team with his qualities and experience.”
The 33-year-old has been without a club since 2018, having actually ended his active career due to injury problems. Instead, he became coach at the then district league team SC Frintrop in 2018.
