Former coach terminates contract – new club confirmed

Good news for Wuppertaler SV. Just one day after Sebastian Tyrala was presented, his predecessor terminated his employment contract.

Perfect timing, you might call it: On Tuesday (November 5), Wuppertaler SV presented Sebastian Tyrala – read the Forecasting interview with Tyrala – as its new head coach.

One day later, his predecessor Rene Klingbeil terminated his employment contract at Hubertusallee, which was due to run until June 30, 2025. This means that WSV will not have to pay two coaches at the same time.

“Wuppertaler Sportverein and head coach Rene Klingbeil have mutually agreed to terminate his current contract. Wuppertaler SV would like to thank Rene Klingbeil for his work and commitment and wishes him every success in his future career and personal life,” said a press release from WSV.

Forecasting also knows the new job of the 43-year-old A-license holder. Klingbeil will be presented as the new head coach of South West Regional League club KSV Hessen Kassel on Wednesday (November 6). He will succeed Alexander Kiene, who was released from his coaching duties at KSV on October 21, 2024. Like Wuppertaler SV, Kassel is also fighting against relegation from the 4th division.

It was a short but intense time. Wuppertal was an exciting and great experience. I would have liked to have continued for longer. I felt very comfortable there.

Klingbeil on his time at WSV

“Yes, I can confirm that. I will be continuing at Hessen Kassel. I’m delighted that I can start straight away,” Klingbeil confirmed to RS.

Looking back on his four months at WSV – three wins, three draws, six defeats in the league and two victories in the Niederrheinpokal – the former professional said: “It was a short but intense time. Wuppertal was an exciting and great experience. I would have liked to have continued for longer. I felt very comfortable there. The club, my staff, the fans – everything was special at WSV. Unfortunately, the journey is not to continue. You have to accept that. We have now reached an agreement and I would like to thank those responsible and wish Wuppertaler SV all the best.”

Klingbeil was a successful soccer player. He played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburger SV, Viking Stavanger in Norway, FC Erzgebirge Aue, and FC Carl Zeiss Jena. The new Hessen-Kassel coach was also captain at his previous clubs and made 15 appearances for Stavanger in the Norwegian first division, 51 Bundesliga appearances, 149 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, 71 appearances in the 3. Liga and 65 appearances in the Regionalliga.

As a coach, Klingbeil has worked for FC 1910 Lößnitz, Carl Zeiss Jena, and Wuppertaler SV, and will join KSV Hessen Kassel on November 6, 2024.
