Good news for Wuppertaler SV. Just one day after the introduction of Sebastian Tyrala, his predecessor terminated his contract.
Perfect timing, you might say: On Tuesday (November 5), Wuppertal SV presented Sebastian Tyrala – also read the forecasting interview with Tyrala – as the new head coach.
One day later, his predecessor Rene Klingbeil terminated his contract at Hubertusallee, which was dated until June 30, 2025. This means that WSV does not have to pay two coaches at the same time.
“Wuppertaler Sportverein and head coach Rene Klingbeil have mutually agreed to dissolve the current contract. Wuppertaler SV would like to thank Rene Klingbeil for his work and commitment and wishes him every success in his future endeavors, both professionally and personally,” the club said in a statement.
The 43-year-old A-licensed holder also has a new job. Klingbeil will be introduced as the new head coach of the Südwest-Regionalligisten KSV Hessen Kassel this Wednesday (November 6). He will succeed Alexander Kiene, who was released from his coaching duties at KSV on October 21, 2024. Like Wuppertaler SV, Kassel is also fighting against relegation in the 4th division.
It was a short but intense time. Wuppertal was an exciting and great experience. I would have liked to have continued it for longer. I felt very comfortable.
Klingbeil on his time at WSV
“Yes, I can confirm that. I will continue with Hessen Kassel. I’m pleased that I’m continuing straight away,” Klingbeil told RS.
Regarding his four months at WSV – three wins, three draws, six defeats in the league and two successes in the Lower Rhine Cup – the former professional said: “It was a short but intense time. Wuppertal was an exciting and great experience. I would have liked to have continued it for longer. I felt very comfortable. The club, my staff, the fans, it was all very special at WSV. Unfortunately, the journey was not to continue. You just have to accept that. We have now come to an agreement and I would like to thank those responsible for that and wish Wuppertal SV all the best.”
Klingbeil was a successful footballer. He was under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburger SV, Viking Stavanger in Norway, FC Erzgebirge Aue and FC Carl Zeiss Jena. The new Hessen-Kassel coach was also a captain at his various clubs and played 15 matches for Stavanger in the Norwegian first division, 51 Bundesliga matches, 149 matches in the Bundesliga 2, 71 matches in the Bundesliga 3, and 65 matches in the Regionalliga.
As a coach, Klingbeil has worked for FC 1910 Lößnitz, Carl Zeiss Jena and Wuppertaler SV, and from November 6, 2024, he will also work for KSV Hessen Kassel.
