Hallesche FC could be set for a high-profile signing in their battle against relegation from the third division. An experienced former Duisburg defender is on their radar.
Will Hallescher FC get its defensive problems under control? 48 goals conceded in 22 third division games are clearly too many to stay in the league. But although HFC has the worst defense in the league, the Halle team is still above the line. Defensive midfielder Yannick Stark could now provide a remedy.
The former Dresden player is currently on trial at Halle. “The question is how quickly he can help the team and how fit he is,” Halle’s sporting director Thomas Sobotzik told MDR.
Stark last played for Turkish second division side Manisa FK and has been without a club since September 2023. He most recently kept fit with third division side SpVgg Unterhaching, but a deal did not materialize. “The contact came about relatively quickly,” Stark said of his presence in Halle.
The intention is to use Tuesday and Wednesday to “get to know each other.” “I think both sides can see it working.” However, a decision must be made quickly, as the transfer window closes at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 1.
Yannick Stark came up through the youth ranks at Eintracht Frankfurt
Stark was trained in the youth ranks at Eintracht Frankfurt and played for the second team in Hesse until the summer of 2010. He then moved to MSV Duisburg, where he was immediately loaned to SV Darmstadt 98 and, a year later, to FSV Frankfurt. Curiously, he only played in one competitive match for the Zebras before moving to Bornheimer Hang on a free transfer in 2011.
Further stops followed at TSV 1860 Munich and Dynamo Dresden. With the Saxons, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the summer of 2021 and relegated again a year later. In the summer of 2022, he then moved to Turkey – a chapter that was not to be crowned with success.
Stark has played 218 second division games and 68 games in the modern third division during his career. Stark could now play a decisive role in helping Hallescher FC in their battle against relegation from the third division. A direct competitor: Stark’s former club MSV Duisburg.
