Lex-Tyger Lobinger made the leap into the 2nd Bundesliga via SG Wattenscheid 09 and Fortuna Düsseldorf II. However, the striker must now find a new employer.
At the winter break, 1. FC Kaiserslautern is just one point above the relegation places in Bundesliga 2. Too little for the club, which presented Dimitrios Grammozis as its new head coach at the beginning of December.
Accordingly, the Red Devils’ squad is likely to see some movement – initially, however, on the departures side. As reported by “kicker”, Lex-Tyger Lobinger has been released and will not be traveling to the winter training camp in Belek. The center forward will instead look for a new club.
Lobinger made the leap to the Bundesliga 2 via the Regionalliga West. He first got his first senior minutes there in 2018/19 for SG Wattenscheid 09 (26 games, three goals) before moving to the second team of Fortuna Düsseldorf a year later
The 1.92-meter man failed to score in his first year with Fortuna, but then increased his goal average considerably. In 2020/21, he scored eleven goals in 29 games, followed by nine goals in just 16 appearances in 2021/22. His performances recommended him for the pros – he made a total of ten appearances for Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga 2, but failed to score in 81 minutes of action.
The breakthrough at Fortuna did not come, but Lobinger was able to recommend himself for a move to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He played regularly there in his first year and made 29 appearances in the second division, two of them from the start (two goals, two assists). This year, the attacker even started on the first matchday, but was often left out afterwards and had only made six appearances in the league and not scored a goal by the winter break. He will probably no longer play a role under Grammozis.
The situation could be similar for Terrence Boyd. According to “kicker”, the veteran’s contract is also set to be terminated. However, Grammozis initially denied this on Tuesday.
Update: FCK presented two new winter signings in the afternoon. Winger Ba-Muaka Simakala is joining Betzenberg on loan from Holstein Kiel until the summer. In addition, right-back Frank Ronstadt is moving permanently from SV Darmstadt 98 to Kaiserslautern. This is the second time this winter that the second division club has made a move to the Bundesliga promotion side. Previously, they had already secured the loan of center forward Filip Stojilkovic
