Following the signing of Julian Kania, VfL Osnabrück has now also released a striker. Exactly one year ago, he was still highly sought after.
It was January 4, 2025, when Forecasting ran the following headline on its portal: “VfL Osnabrück secures Germany’s best regional league goal scorer.” We are talking about Nikky Goguadze. The Dutchman had scored 18 goals in 19 games for Bremer SV in the 2024/2025 Regionalliga Nord season. That was the best record in the regional league throughout Germany. Several third division clubs vied for the striker, but VfL Osnabrück won the bid. A year later, Goguadze is history at the Bremer Brücke. He was unable to establish himself in the third division. In the end, the striker looks back on eight competitive appearances (two goals) for VfL Osnabrück. For him, it’s back to the fourth division. Northern regional league club FC St. Pauli II presented Goguadze as a new signing. He still had a contract in Osnabrück until June 30, 2027. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer details.
In previous years, Goguadze played for Bremer SV in the regional league for several seasons, and he also gained further experience in the league with TSV Havelse and SSV Jeddeloh II. In a total of 90 regional league games, he scored 43 goals and provided six assists.
Carsten Rothenbach, sporting director of FC St. Pauli’s U23 team, explains: “We are very happy to have signed Nikky. He knows what it takes to succeed in the league and has proven his accuracy time and again over a long period of time. That’s why we expect him to be able to provide guidance to our younger players and help us develop more offensive power again.”
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge at FC St. Pauli. Even though the team is very young and currently in a difficult situation, I’m convinced of the quality of my new teammates. I hope that I can contribute to a successful second half of the season with my skills and that we can stay in the league together,” adds Goguadze.
