The regional league second team of second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf has made another move in the transfer market.
Fortuna Düsseldorf have strengthened their U23 squad with the addition of Gideon Guzy. The 21-year-old moves to Flinger Broich from third-division club SC Verl and will be a member of the Regionalliga West second division squad in the new season.
Guzy played as a youth player for SV Fortuna Bottrop, MSV Duisburg, Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Schalke 04. The left-back made the step up to the U23s at S04 in the summer of 2022 before joining SC Verl for the 2023/24 season. He made two appearances for SC in the 3rd division last season.
Stefan Vollmerhausen, Sporting Director of the youth academy, commented on the signing: “With the transfer of Gideon, we’ve managed to fill the position that became vacant in the squad following the departure of Min-Woo Kim very well. Gideon impresses on the left flank with his dynamism and pace. Even though he didn’t get the playing time he had hoped for at SC Verl last season, we are convinced that he can fully exploit his potential here and will strengthen us straight away with his qualities.”
Fortuna Düsseldorf II: 13 departures fixed – eleven arrivals too
After the end of the season, the club said goodbye to twelve players – including regulars such as Tim Corsten (SV Rödinghausen), Soufiane El-Faouzi (Alemannia Aachen) and Seymour Fünger (Fortuna Köln). Min-Woo Kim (Daejeon Hana C./South Korea), Robin Bird, Luis-Felipe Monteiro, Maxim Schröder, Ephraim Kalonji, Enes Yilmaz, Venhar Ismailji, Davino Knappe, Shinnosuke Nishi and Fabian Eutinger (all destination unknown) will also no longer be playing at Flinger Broich after the summer break.
Meanwhile, twelve players have already signed contracts for Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 team. The individual additions are: Elias Egouli (1. FC Düren), Gideon Guzy (SC Verl), Leonard Brodersen (Teutonia 05 Ottensen), Dominic Grehl (MSV Duisburg U19), Marius Zentler (Sportfreunde Siegen), Lennart Garlipp (Hannover 96 II), Noah Förster (Alemannia Aachen U19), Kris Pöstges, Tobias Grulke, Mechak Quiala-Tito and Ronay Arabaci (all own U19)
