Fortuna Köln conquers top of table – Wuppertaler SV turns 0:2

Fortuna Köln is the new leader of the Regionalliga West after a win against 1. FC Düren. Wuppertaler SV wins after trailing 0:2.

Fortuna Köln has taken the top spot in the Regionalliga West. In a direct duel with the previous leader, 1. FC Düren, Markus von Ahlen’s team won 1:0 (1:0).

The hosts took control after about half an hour. Dominik Ernst provided the 1-0 lead with an incredible long-range shot (35th). Fortuna kept the pressure on and had several good opportunities to double their lead before the break.

It was only after a good hour that the guests got into the game better. However, they failed to create any clear-cut chances. It was only in the final phase that Fortuna Cologne had to shake. Without consequences. The score remained 1:0.

Fortuna Köln, now with 26 points, wrest the lead in the standings from 1. FC Düren thanks to its better goal difference. 1. FC Bocholt could pass both with a draw on Saturday against Rot Weiss Ahlen.

Fortuna Düsseldorf II – Wuppertaler SV 2:3 (2:1)

For 43 minutes it smelled like a dream debut for Jens Langeneke as coach of Fortuna Düsseldorf II! But then Wuppertaler SV demonstrated its comeback qualities and turned a 0:2 into a 3:2.

The Düsseldorfers, with just nine points from their first twelve games, started surprisingly buoyantly and took the lead after just 13 minutes. Robin Bird scored on a follow-up shot. The guests found it difficult to get into the game.

The home side, on the other hand, took a pass from Luis Felipe Monteiro to King Samuel, who slotted the ball home from close range to make it 2-0 (33). Shortly before the break, Damjan Marceta had only to hold out his foot after a cross (43.).

In the third and final Regionalliga West match on Friday evening, SV Lippstadt 08 and SV Rödinghausen played to a 0-0 draw.

The hosts thus remain in the relegation zone, the SVR in mid-table.
