What a game! Fortuna Köln turned a 3-0 deficit against Borussia Mönchengladbach II into a 4-3 win on Friday evening!
It became clear early on that this match would not be a defensive battle. Shio Fukuda took advantage of a moment of inattention after eight minutes to put the Foals 1:0 ahead.
In the 31st minute, the Japanese striker again found himself in a dangerous position and made it 2:0 (31′). Shortly afterwards, strike partner Mika Schroers even increased the lead to 3:0 (41′), which caused a stir among coach Markus von Ahlen’s team due to an alleged foul in the build-up.
However, Fortuna did not give up. Leon Demaj scored the equalizer on the stroke of half-time (45′). The foundations had been laid for the comeback.
Marvin Mika reduced the deficit to 2:3 after an hour with a spectacular goal (59′), before Dominik Lanius made it 3:3 (80′). But Fortuna wanted more. And Fortuna got more.
In the 90th minute, Mika broke through and crossed into the middle. The first attempt was blocked, but then Kingsley Sarpei scored to make it 4:3! Thanks to a show of strength, Fortuna Köln climbed to within three points of leaders Bocholt, but have played one game more.
SSVg Velbert suffer a late blow
SSVg Velbert gave away two important points against relegation at home against SC Paderborn II at the last second.
Ilyas Ansah made it 1:0 for the visitors after half an hour (30′). However, Timo Mehlich turned the game around less than five minutes later with a brace (32′, 34′).
The hosts were heading for an important three-pointer for a long time before Martin Ens put the ball in the corner with the final whistle to make it 2:2. Velbert remain in second-last place in the Regionalliga West with eleven points.

Alemannia Aachen returned to winning ways after the 3-0 defeat against 1. FC Bocholt. At home on the Tivoli, the Kaiserstädtern managed a 1-0 win against SC Wiedenbrück. Anton Heinz scored the goal of the day in the 18th minute.
In the final game of the evening, FC Gütersloh won 2:1 (2:0) against SV Rödinghausen. Patrik Twardzik (25) and Jeffrey Obst (35) decisively put their team on the road to victory in the first half. The visitors’ follow-up was without consequence
