Four men have been released, three players are still to come

Alemannia Aachen have not yet finalized their squad for the coming season. The promoted club wants to remove some players from the payroll and sign a new trio.

In recent days and weeks, Heiner Backhaus has welcomed a number of test candidates to the training sessions.

The coach of Alemannia Aachen is still looking for a goalkeeper, a central defender and a six-man who, in the best case, can also play in central defense. According to information from forecasting, Aachen would very much like to sign Salomon Patrick Amougou Nkoa (most recently Hansa Rostock) for the central defense.

The 1.92 meter tall Nkoa was able to convince Backhaus in training. The problem with signing Nkoa is that Alemannia first have to find the money.

Because with Marc Brasnic, Dustin Wilms, Lars Oeßwein and Vincent Schaub, there is still a quartet on the Alemannia payroll – until June 30, 2025 – who no longer play a role and have been released

The boys know that we want to press and chase. The new players have also adapted to this quickly and well. Over the next few days, we’ll be fine-tuning for the league opener.

“Some of the lads have known since October 2023 that it’s going to be damn difficult for them with us. I hope they find what they’re looking for in their search for new roles. These are still young players who certainly don’t want to be stuck in the stands,” Backhaus told Forecasting. He adds: “I can’t let the boys, who are all clean and fine, train with us because then there are simply too many players. I already have to leave three men out when it’s eleven against eleven.”

The 42-year-old aspiring soccer coach believes his Alemanni are on the right track, even without the three squad players still needed. “I’m happy with the integrity of the new players and the intensity in training. The boys know that we want to press and chase. The new players have also adapted to this quickly and well. Over the next few days, we’ll be fine-tuning for the league opener,” said Backhaus, who will kick off the 2024/2025 third division season with Alemannia at Rot-Weiss Essen on Saturday (August 3, 2 p.m., live ticker).
