Four years ago the transfer fell through – now ex-RWE talent signs again

Spvg Schonnebeck has signed a new left-back. He was already once in 2019 before a move to the Essener Oberliga club.

Third new signing for Spvg Schonnebeck: the Essen club has secured the services of Nico Wolters. The 24-year-old left-back comes from league rivals Cronenberger SC, who are facing relegation to the Landesliga.

Thus, club and player are now making up for what had failed in 2019. At that time, Wolters also moved from ASC Dortmund to Schetters Busch – supposedly. He had already been introduced as a newcomer, but then immediately moved on to TuS Haltern, where he was able to fulfill his dream of playing in the regional league.

But Wolter’s time at Haltern ended just six months later. ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen, TVD Velbert and, since the beginning of this year, Cronenberg are his other stations. The winger was trained by Schalke, Münster, Düsseldorf and, most recently, Rot-Weiss Essen. In total, the Essen native made 86 appearances in the Oberliga (one goal) and nine games in the Regionalliga.

In Schonnebeck, he is expected to compensate for the departure of Wilfried Sarr on the left side of defense. The 13-time third-league professional is moving to FC Kray in the summer.

After the departure of Wilfried Sarr, we wanted to sign a type of player who is fast and brings a real fighter’s heart.

“After the departure of Wilfried Sarr, we wanted to sign a player type who is fast and brings a real fighter’s heart,” explains Schonnebeck’s sporting director Christian Leben. “Nico is a player with exactly these attributes.”

Previously, Schonnebeck had already signed Yannick Geisler (SSVg Velbert) as well as junior player Aaron Oteng-Appiah (FC Kray U19). On the other hand, Georgios Ketsatis (SV Burgaltendorf), Louis Jozek (SSV Buer) and Sarr.
