FC Schalke have found the replacement for injured attacker Sebastian Polter. Michael Frey is already in Gelsenkirchen.
Shortly before the first Bundesliga match of the new year, Schalke 04 will make another strike on the transfer market. Centre forward Michael Frey will join the Gelsenkirchen club from Belgian first division club Royal Antwerp. On Friday morning, the 28-year-old Swiss was already at the club’s premises at Berger Feld to clarify final details. The plan is a loan until summer with a subsequent purchase option.
The transfer of Frey is a reaction to the cruciate ligament injury of Sebastian Polter (31), who will miss the rest of the season. Frey has been convincing in Belgium over the past year and a half with a good scoring rate. In 69 games for Antwerp he scored 33 times.
