Rot-Weiss Essen continue to look for reinforcements. Now this man has come into RWE’s sights. He is currently still under contract with FC Bayern Munich
Two attacking wing-backs, an attacking central midfielder and a striker – and ideally a defensive midfielder: these are the positions where Rot-Weiss Essen’s management still see a need for action.
It is now known that RWE are interested in striker Florian Dietz (1. FC Köln). Forecasting reported. It was not previously known that the third division club had also put out feelers for a player from the U23 reserve team of German record champions FC Bayern Munich.
As Forecasting has now learned, the Red & White management team led by coach Christoph Dabrowski, sporting director Christian Flüthmann and director of professional soccer Marcus Steegmann are in talks with Dion Berisha and his consultancy agency. “It remains the same: I’m not taking part in any speculation,” Steegmann told our editorial team on Monday afternoon (July 8).
The 21-year-old, who can play in all attacking positions but feels most comfortable at right-back, could sign on at Hafenstrasse this week, according to RS information. Talks are said to be at an advanced stage. However, the deal is not yet a done deal.
Berisha, who was born in Lyon, France, but is also a citizen of Kosovo and has already played five international matches (one goal) for their U21 national team, made 28 appearances for Bayern’s reserves in the last Bayern regional league season. He scored seven goals and set up a further goal. He also made 21 appearances (2, 0) for FC Augsburg II, giving Berisha a total of 49 games in the fourth division (9, 1).
The quick and tricky attacking player spent his entire youth at FC Augsburg’s youth academy before moving to Säbener Straße in Munich in the summer of 2023. It is quite possible that he will soon swap this for Hafenstrasse in Essen-Bergeborbeck.
