From “outstanding” to “dream” – what Münster’s derby matchwinners say

Preußen Münster started the new year with a 2:1 win. Two attacking players got on the scoresheet against Arminia Bielefeld and enjoyed the success to the full.

The goals for Preußen Münster from Daniel Kyerewaa and Joel Grodowski spoke volumes against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday afternoon. In the first half, Kyerewaa, who had joined from Schalke II, humorlessly thumped the ball under the crossbar before Münster’s second-best scorer sealed the first black, white and green Westphalian derby victory in almost ten years with another dream goal in the 67th minute.

“I hit the ball well with my left foot,” said Kyerewaa, beaming with joy after the 2:1 victory. He continued: “It’s just a great feeling to have scored again after such a long time. And then against Bielefeld. Outstanding, outstanding!”

Grodowski, who has now scored eight goals in 20 league games for SCP, also shouted his delight at the derby success through the catacombs. “A dream has come true,” revealed the striker, who had worked successfully with Bielefeld coach Michél Kniat in Verl not so long ago.

While Kniat joined the tradition-steeped Arminia on July 1, 2023, Grodowski returned to the SCP on the same day after his two-year stint in East Westphalia – where he had previously spent two seasons. For the now 26-year-old, it was a return to his old love, whose colors he now wears with pride for a second time.

“I’m about to go to bed, get a massage from the wife and then I’ll continue.”

“Anyone who knows me knows that I put my heart and soul into it,” emphasized the speedy attacker. And SCP coach Sascha Hildmann certainly agreed with the match-winner: “That was a super goal from Grodowski. I’m delighted for the boy, the way he marches up front like a wild man. “

With these statements, it was hardly surprising that Grodowski said he was “relatively exhausted after 70 minutes”. However, the goalscorer wants to be fit again by the time the tough away game in Ingolstadt (Wednesday, 7 p.m.) comes around. “I’ll go straight to bed, get a massage from the wife and then I’ll get going again. “
