From the second division – Midfield reinforcement to be announced shortly

MSV Duisburg is gearing up for the third division promotion battle in the second half of the season – according to forecasting information, with a new signing from the second division.

MSV Duisburg is currently in an excellent third place in the third division. Although the Zebras have only just returned from the regional league, coach Dietmar Hirsch’s team is aiming for promotion.

And MSV Duisburg is stepping up its efforts to achieve this. According to Forecasting information, Aljaz Casar is set to sign for Wedau shortly. The central midfielder will join from second division club Dynamo Dresden six months before the end of his contract. Casar is 25 years old, 1.90 meters tall, and a former Slovenian junior international. Casar has made twelve appearances in the current second division season, but mostly only as a substitute. He has made three starts and nine substitute appearances. In Dresden’s promotion season, the 2024/25 campaign, he was still largely a regular as a center back and central midfielder. Rather, one or two players are likely to be considering whether they could play a more important role at another club. Full-back Moritz Montag did not make a single appearance in the first half of the season. Defensive midfielder Florian Egerer only played in the first half of the 0-0 draw at Viktoria Cologne in the last game of the year.

Points Table

Now Casar, who can play in central defense, defensive midfield, and central midfield, is set to join the team. After playing in his home country of Slovenia and for SCR Altach in Austria, Casar made the move to Germany in the summer of 2021—more specifically, to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II in the Regionalliga Südwest.

After just one year, he moved on to Halleschen FC in the 3rd division. Just two years later, he moved to Dynamo Dresden. In total, Casar has already played 97 third division games, scored four goals and provided six assists.
