Geraerts stays, talent gets first seconds and thus a new contract

Two personnel decisions were made at Schalke after the 2-0 defeat at Greuther Fürth.

Actually, it was just a normal change in the 90th minute. But it has consequences. Right-back Taylan Bulut’s contract with Schalke 04 was extended until June 30, 2026 as a result of his first professional appearance.

He replaced Steven van der Sloot, who has to leave Schalke after the season. For the 18-year-old Bulut, it was his first minutes in the Bundesliga 2. And thus the new contract, he will never forget the game in Fürth despite the 2-0 defeat.

Previously, he had almost only played in the U19 Bundesliga for Schalke. He has made 18 appearances there this season (four goals, one assist). Prior to that, he also made his debut in the regional league. He played 90 minutes in the 4:0 win against Ahlen and received praise from the coach.

In Fürth, he was unable to make an impact after coming on as a substitute, but his coach Karel Geraerts said of the game itself: “Fürth is one of the best teams in the division in terms of soccer. For 30 minutes it was a game of teams who wanted to play. Fürth then got better. In the second half, the 1:0 was deserved. We had a good chance through Kenan Karaman, then it could be a different game. Then came the 2:0, then the game was over. “

Fürth coach Alexander Zorniger was satisfied with the end of his side’s season: “It was a successful way to end the season, we showed a lot of what we want. We were rewarded for that in the second half. It’s good for everyone when you go out with such a sense of achievement. We can be very proud of the round. 50 points, that’s something. To be in the top half of a league with such traditional clubs is something to be proud of. “

I have a contract and I’m happy here

Zorniger now goes on vacation, then returns to Fürth. The same goes for Geraerts, who replied after the game when asked if he would stay at Schalke: “Yes. I have a contract and I’m happy here.”

He thus put an end to the speculation surrounding a summer switch. The Belgian will shape the summer transition at Schalke in order to be more successful in the new season than he has been recently
