Gladbach II celebrates relegation, Lippstadt faces relegation

The next decisions are being made in the Regionalliga West basement. The last four places seem to be taken, Gütersloh celebrates on the couch.

Matchday 32 in the Regionalliga West. It has been official for a week now that Alemannia Aachen will be promoted as champions. And decisions have now also been made in the basement of the table.

With MSV Duisburg’s relegation from the 3rd division no longer in doubt, it is also clear that the last four teams in the Regionalliga West table will probably have to go down to the Oberliga. However, Schalke 04’s relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga or the absence of a promoted team from the Oberliga Niederrhein could change this. Decisions will therefore also be made outside the league, and 15th place could still be an important one.

Borussia Mönchengladbach II had the chance to avert this in the basement and secure relegation early. The Gladbach side did their homework with a 2:1 home win over Fortuna Köln – and were also pleased to stay in the league thanks to the results of their rivals.

SV Lippstadt, the only club that could still pose a threat to Gladbach from the relegation zone, were held to a goalless draw by FC Wegberg-Beeck, who were probably already relegated. Bottom club Rot Weiss Ahlen bowed out of the league with a 2-1 defeat against Wuppertaler SV.

Gütersloh celebrates relegation on the couch, decision in Paderborn?

While Rot-Weiß Oberhausen ended a long dry spell at 1. FC Köln II, champions Aachen also secured a commanding 4-0 away win at long-saved SC Wiedenbrück thanks to three-pointer Anton Heinz. SV Rödinghausen had already defeated FC Gütersloh on Friday, who nevertheless celebrated their relegation on the couch on Saturday, also with a 2-0 win.

In addition, 1. FC Düren and 1. FC Bocholt drew 1-1, and the points were also shared in the 2-2 draw between the second teams of FC Schalke 04 and Fortuna Düsseldorf. The matchday will be completed on Sunday afternoon (May 5, 2 p.m.). The second team of SC Paderborn will then host SSVg Velbert.

The final decision in the relegation battle could also be made here: If the East Westphalians score against Velbert, the bottom four in the table will be determined and can only hope that 15th place will be enough to avoid relegation after all. Velbert, Lippstadt, Wegberg and Ahlen (only theoretically) can all still achieve this place
