Go or stay? Sports director and key players have made their decision

Things are looking clear for SV Elversberg: two important building blocks of the Saarland club’s success this season have decided on their future.

The champagne corks are likely to be popping at SV Elversberg these days. First, because sports director Ole Book has announced that he will be staying with SVE. This is remarkable because, according to reports, he had received an offer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Instead, he is staying in tranquil Saarland and has extended his contract. The club did not disclose the duration of the contract. “Over the past few years, we have built something together at SV Elversberg that we can be proud of. We have celebrated unforgettable successes and milestones, but we have also overcome major challenges. A bond has developed and mutual trust has grown, which I greatly appreciate and which I believe is a prerequisite for a shared and successful future,” he said in a statement.

He continued: “I am looking forward to the tasks that lie ahead and to continuing to shape the future of this club.”

President Dominik Holzer once again emphasized the significance of this personnel decision: “The successful path that SVE has taken in recent years is something special – and closely associated with one name. Ole Book has achieved a great deal in sports management and development over the years, even though the tasks were considerable, as was the case this summer. We are very happy that he will continue to bear the sporting responsibility. This decision is of utmost importance to us.”

Points Table

On the field, Tom Zimmerschied plays a major role. The 27-year-old left wing is a regular under coach Vincent Wagner and has now also extended his contract. His contract with SVE, which was originally set to run until 2027, now runs until 2029. “Tom quickly settled in after his comeback and has repeatedly demonstrated his qualities on the pitch. He is an asset to our offensive play, and we are confident that he will continue to grow into this key role in the coming years,” said Book.

Zimmerschied added: “Here in Elversberg, I have found an environment where I not only feel comfortable, but where I can also develop both athletically and personally. Last season, we showed as a team that we can compete at this level. I want to continue to do my part to help us grow as a team and inspire fans with our games.”
