The second goalkeeper leaves FC Bayern. After Alexander Nübel, Johannes Schenk will also be loaned out. Previously, the Munich team adjust the contract with the 20-year-old.
Goalkeeper talent Johannes Schenk has extended his professional contract at FC Bayern Munich, but is first to gain playing experience in the 3rd division. As the German soccer record champions announced on Wednesday, the cooperation with the 20-year-old keeper was extended until June 30, 2025. Until the end of the season, however, he will be loaned to third-division club Preußen Münster.
“Johannes Schenk has continuously developed since his transfer as a young player at our FC Bayern Campus. For his next step, he now needs regular stints at the professional level, which is why we decided on the loan deal with Preußen Münster. We will follow his path closely,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, according to the statement.
A reunion with his colleagues will happen soon. The Munich team will face Preußen Münster in the first round of the DFB Cup on September 26. The game, like that of cup winners RB Leipzig at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, will not take place until September, unlike the other first-round games, because FC Bayern and Leipzig play each other in the Supercup on August 12. That is the Cup weekend for the other clubs.
No game for Bayern pros yet
Schenk, who was born in Schweinfurt, joined the U16 juniors of the German record champions from 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2017. He impressed at the FC Bayern Campus and recommended himself for a professional contract. So far, he has stood 29 times in goal for the second team. He has not yet played in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup or even the Champions League.
Schenk, like Marcel Sabitzer and Alexander Nübel, did not make the Munich team’s trip to Asia. Sabitzer moved to Borussia Dortmund, Nübel on loan to VfB Stuttgart. Yann Sommer also does not want to sit on the Munich bench in the new season. However, his future depends to a large extent on the recovery of captain Manuel Neuer. Neuer has not played a game since breaking his lower leg in December.
