The soccer year is over, time to let the numbers do the talking. Here is an overview of who has stood out positively and negatively in the 3rd division so far.
The 20th matchday marked the end of the 2022/23 soccer year in the 3rd division. The first matchday of the second half of the season has already been played, although three games still have to be made up.

Catch-up games
The games 1860 Munich – Rot-Weiss Essen, SpVgg Unterhaching – Hallescher FC and BVB II – Preußen Münster must be made up in 2024.
Goalscorers
Jannik Mause from FC Ingolstadt leads the scoring charts with 13 goals. He arrived in the summer from Alemannia Aachen in the Regionalliga West and immediately found his feet one level higher. The striker scores every 120 minutes.
With eleven goals, Dominic Baumann (Hallescher FC) and Malik Batmaz (Preußen Münster) share second place. Batmaz even scores more often than Mause on average, namely every 111 minutes.
A total of 552 goals have been scored so far this season, an average of 2.8 goals. It is striking that the most goals are scored in the quarter of an hour before the break (101) and the final quarter of an hour (126).
Spectators
Dynamo Dresden is clearly in first place. An average of 28,833 spectators attended Dynamo’s home matches. In second place is Arminia Bielefeld (17,554 spectators on average) ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen (16,568 spectators per match). MSV is in fifth place with an average of 12,311 spectators per home game.
As expected, Borussia Dortmund II (3627 visitors per home game), SC Verl (2477 visitors per home game) and Freiburg II (2261 visitors per home game) are in the bottom three places.
In total, 1,822,918 spectators have come to the stadiums so far, giving a strong average of 9,253 after 20 match days.
Tickets
BVB II have collected the most card points so far. 47 yellow cards, 4 yellow-red cards and one red card. In total, that’s 64 points for cards. Right in front of them is MSV Duisburg, who have collected 60 yellow cards, more than any other team. Viktoria Köln lead the fair play table ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen. Both were sent off twice and received very few yellow cards in comparison.
Eternal table
In the perpetual table, Halle (3rd place), Unterhaching (4th place), Münster (6th place), Dresden (8th place), Saarbrücken (9th place) and MSV (10th place) are six teams in the top ten that are currently active in the 3rd division.
