Rot-Weiß Oberhausen are on a good run. The many draws have prevented RWO from doing even better.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen are ten points behind leaders 1. FC Bocholt. At first glance, that’s a huge gap. At second glance, the gap is put into perspective. Because RWO have two games in hand on Bocholt and their closest rivals Aachen.
This means that if RWO win the catch-up games at Borussia Mönchengladbach II and SSVg Velbert, the Cloverleafs would be within four points and well in contention. The RWO coach knows that too.
Jörn Nowak on…
… Rot-Weiß Oberhausen’s first half of the season: “I think we’re basically on the right track. We have seen good individual developments in particular. Some players have taken a step forward. Before the season, we set ourselves the target of a two-point average and unfortunately we’ve fallen short of that, but it would have been possible. Especially in the 0-0 games we had, we could have scored three points, maybe we should have. We were the better team there. But the development is definitely positive for us.”
… the best moment in the past round? “The home game against Aachen was special. Especially the first half, where everything actually worked. We won the ball well and were very efficient. We went into half-time with a 4:0 lead. Then there was the whole setting with the floodlit game and the large crowd. That was definitely the highlight of the half series. “
We are also in the Lower Rhine Cup semi-finals. We have to make it to the final and then anything is possible. Winning the cup would be great for the whole Rot-Weiß Oberhausen club.

.. the worst moment of the half series? “That was the 2:2 equalizer against SC Wiedenbrück in stoppage time. The exact same thing happened to us as on matchday 2 against Velbert. That’s very annoying. Because this same mistake cost us two points again. So we’ve already given away four points in these two games alone.”
… the goals for 2024: “We start again on January 4. We’ll work hard and want to make sure we end up in the top group. It’s very broad and anyone can beat anyone. The games so far have proven that. We want to be at the top right to the end. We have to continue our good development and push forward. Then we’ll see how the table looks at the end. We are also in the semi-finals of the Lower Rhine Cup. We have to make it to the final and then anything is possible. Winning the cup would be great for the whole Rot-Weiß Oberhausen club. “
