Kevin Zamkiewicz is a well-known striker in amateur soccer in Essen. A real goal scorer. He answers the Forecasting questionnaire and also talks about his NLZ existence.
He is 34 years old and scores goals for DJK Sportfreunde Katernberg. Coach Sascha Fischer is very happy to have Kevin Zamkiewicz in his ranks.
This goalscorer – currently (as of November 8, 2023): twelve goals after 13 games – could actually score for any amateur team in Essen and he would probably score everywhere.
That was the case during his spells at Sportfreunde Altenessen 1918, TuS Essen-West 1881, VfB Frohnhausen and now DJK Sportfreunde Katernberg. Only in the Oberliga at TVD Velbert (eleven appearances, one goal) did the boy from Essen not find happiness.
Kevin Zamkiewicz answers the forecasting questionnaire.
My greatest strength is… scoring goals.
My biggest weakness is… pace.
In our dressing room… it’s loud.
The best moment of my soccer career was… the promotion with VfB Frohnhausen in the 2019/2020 season. I scored two goals in the first leg against Bocholt and set up the third. The promotion party afterwards was also sensational. The club led by Issam Said deserved this promotion so much. I’m proud that I was able to play my part in this great success.
The best goal of my career was… I don’t know. I’ve scored so many goals that I don’t remember any one goal in particular. It was probably a goal from the halfway line. But I also scored a few goals like that.
I didn’t become a professional footballer because… it just wasn’t enough. The quality wasn’t good enough. I did play for Schalke, Bochum and Rot-Weiss Essen, but the other boys at the youth academy were simply more talented. You have to be that honest with yourself. Maybe I didn’t invest enough. But even if I had got everything out of myself, I would have been a top or regional league striker at best. It wasn’t and wouldn’t have been enough for the very top.
The best thing about the Ruhr region is… Stauder!
Either, or?
Dortmund or Schalke? Schalke.
Beer or water? Beer.
Club or pub? Pub.
Natural or artificial turf? Artificial turf.
Fighter or artist? More of an artist on the soccer pitch – then a great fighter at the bar (laughs).
Soccer on TV or in the stadium? Meanwhile on TV with two or three friends. You can still enjoy the game and philosophize about soccer. There are now too many whingers in the stadium who have never kicked a ball but know everything better. That really gets on my nerves!
Finally, a few more questions:
Who would you like to have a beer with? Pep Guardiola, actually, but I don’t think he drinks beer. Wine, on the other hand, is not really my thing. Then maybe Jürgen Klopp or Mario Basler. We could have a nice fight at the bar with Mario in the Elf-Freunde-Bar in Essen-Rüttenscheid (laughs).
What can you laugh about?
About sarcasm.
What is indispensable to you?
My family!
What music do you like to listen to and what is playing in the dressing room?
My favorite music is house and electro. But everything is on in the booth and everyone is happy. “Figo” Hendricks is our boss and the DJ I trust.
If you could start again, what would you do differently in your life?
Nothing. I am in harmony with my life and myself, both privately and professionally. Everything is going well – hopefully it will continue to do so. I just wish there was a lot more peace in the world
