VfL Bochum will face the next top team on matchday 9 of the Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt are the guests and can once again rely on a top performer.
After the weak 0:4 in Leipzig, VfL Bochum will face the next Champions League contender on matchday 9 of the Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt will be visiting “anne Castroper” on Saturday (8 October, 15:30).
For Thomas Letsch, in his second game as VfL coach, this is anything but an easy task to finally secure his first win of the season. But coach Oliver Glasner knows that this game will not be a walk in the park, even for the favoured visitors. The Austrian, who helped his team to a strong 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the European Cup last week, will not take the winless bottom team lightly.
“We would do well not to look at the table “
“I expect a highly motivated opponent. Bochum are a very combative team,” warned the Europa League winner. “I expect them to try to cause us problems through their fast strikers. We are prepared for that,” he singled out the nimble Bochum attack.
They have already shown in the past that Frankfurt are always good for a slip-up against supposedly weaker teams. Glasner also knows that consistency is not always present at the SGE. “We would do well not to look at the table. We can win against first and lose against last in the next game. We will also go into the game in Bochum mentally fresh and motivated. “
Götze gets a guarantee
What exactly the line-ups will be on both sides remains to be seen. Both teams have already played defensively with a four-man and three-man chain this season. What is clear, however, is that an important pillar on the Frankfurt side will return. “Mario Götze trained today without any problems. We didn’t draw any major injuries from the Tottenham game.” The world champion had missed the game against Spurs with an ankle injury. Now he is back and even gets a guarantee: “Mario Götze will definitely play when he is at 100 per cent.”
With their playmaker, the Frankfurt side want to continue to establish themselves in the European places. One thing is clear: with a win, the SGE will at least move past either Bayern or Dortmund (depending on the outcome of the game in the “classic”).
