The euphoria at Preußen Münster seems boundless. The third division club can look forward to big crowds in the final spurt of the season.
After six wins in a row, SC Preußen Münster and its fans are on cloud nine – and after the international break, things will really heat up for the eagle bearers.
In the top games against Dynamo Dresden, Jahn Regensburg and SSV Ulm 1846, the team currently fourth in the table can further improve its position in the promotion race and jump into one of the top three places. Unsurprisingly, many fans will not want to miss out on this.
The home game against Dresden on Saturday, March 30 (2 p.m.), was announced as sold out by the club on Tuesday, after the remaining 3,000 tickets were sold out just seven minutes after the start of the free pre-sale. 11,744 spectators will fill the Preußenstadion for the clash against the second-placed team in the table.
The run on tickets for the following home game against Jahn Regensburg (April 6, 2 p.m.) and the season finale against SpVgg Unterhaching (May 18, 2 p.m.), each of which allows 12,794 spectators, was also huge. Update (3.40 pm): The home section for the matches against Regensburg and Unterhaching is now also sold out.
And 1300 fans secured the so-called spring season ticket by Monday. The combined ticket covers the remaining five home games of the season. In addition to Dresden, Regensburg and Unterhaching, Prussia will host Freiburg II and 1. FC Saarbrücken in the season finale.
This means that 6100 season tickets were sold over the (virtual) counter over the course of the season. The SCP is delighted with a “best figure for decades”. With 10,169 spectators, the promoted team currently has the best average attendance since the 1977/78 second division season (14,263). This figure is likely to rise again in the final phase of the season.
Münster also in front of many spectators in the Westphalia Cup
Thanks to their current run of success, a passage into the Bundesliga 2 is no longer an unrealistic scenario for coach Sascha Hildmann’s team. The team of the moment has climbed to fourth place and is only two points behind a direct promotion place.
Before things get serious again in the league, the quarter-final of the Westphalia Cup at Arminia Bielefeld awaits. And that too in front of a large crowd. It is already certain that the clash between the third division teams will set a new Westphalia Cup attendance record. Around 3,000 fans from Münster will be there
