Great relief – the captain is making progress

MSV Duisburg will host Halleschen FC on Saturday (2pm, RevierSport-Liveticker). Before the game, MSV can breathe a sigh of relief again. The captain is back in training.

Four games without a win in the 3rd division and the cup exit at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen: MSV Duisburg is experiencing its first sporting crisis of the 2022/2023 season.

It is all the more important that captain Moritz Stoppelkamp has returned before the next match, a home game against Halleschen FC (Saturday, 2 p.m., RevierSport live ticker). The lynchpin – nine games, three goals, five assists this season – of MSV’s play was last out at Oberhausen. He was struggling with muscular problems and seems to have overcome them. On Tuesday, the 35-year-old was able to resume running training and diligently did his rounds. Defence chief Sebastian Mai and Marvin Knoll, who has been missing lately, also returned to training on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, MSV coach Torsten Ziegner will definitely have to do without seven players against Halle: Leroy Kwadwo (hip injury), Rolf Feltscher (torn inner ligament), Caspar Jander (torn ligament), Alaa Bakir (torn meniscus), Benjamin Girth (shoulder injury), Marvin Senger (yellow-red suspension) and Vincent Gembalies (knee problems).
