Großkreutz sees red in defeat – Horsthausen with comeback win

While most of the pitches in Westfalenliga 2 were tame on matchday 19, some of them were very busy.

Holzwickeder SC defended their lead at the top of the Westfalenliga 2 table on matchday 19. HSC secured an unchallenged 2-0 victory at BSV Schüren. Both teams finished the game with ten players. There was one yellow-red card each.

The referee drew even more cards in the match between TuS Erndtebrück and Wacker Obercastrop. Emotions ran high after the red card against Kevin Großkreutz at the end of the first half. The visitors’ bench also received a number of cautions. The anger was probably not just because of the sending off. Erndtebrück were already leading 3:0 at this point, which was also the final score.

SpVgg Horsthausen did not want to leave the pitch with such a deficit. The promoted team did not give up against SC Obersprockhövel. After trailing 3-1 at the break, the team from Herne came back to win 4-3.

DSC Wanne-Eickel were denied a second win in a row. After the wild 4:3 against TuS Erndtebrück the previous week, Wanne-Eickel shared the points at Lüner SV. New signing Maximilian Morgner had put the DSC ahead. In the end, the score was 1:1.

The third club from Herne/Wanne-Eickel recorded a victory. SV Sodingen won 1:0 against RSV Meinerzhagen.

Concordia Wiemelhausen had to let go of the top of the table after a fabulous first half of the season. The Bochum side failed to secure a win at basement club Hombrucher SV and lost 2:1.

FC Iserlohn and SC Neheim shared the points in a 1-1 draw. While FC Lennestadt celebrated a surprising 3:1 win against the top team from SV Westfalia Soest
