Gütersloh in Westphalia continues, Ratingen thanks to Kreyer double pack in the Lower Rhine region

Two Verbandspokal matches were on the program on Wednesday. The quarter-finalists in Westphalia and the Lower Rhine region have largely been determined.

Lower Rhine Cup

The sixth participant in the Lower Rhine Cup quarter-finals has been determined. On Wednesday evening, the Oberliga duel between SC St. Tönis and Germania Ratingen ended in a 2-1 (2-0) victory for the guests from Ratingen.

Even before the break, former Oberhausen player Sven Kreyer set the course for victory with his double. The hosts were the better team up to that point, but Ratingen was extremely efficient.

However, the hosts did not give up and were rewarded. First, Ratingen weakened itself, because Tim Potzler saw red after 52 minutes. Branimir Gakic took advantage of the power play seven minutes later to make it 1-2. St. Tönis now had 30 minutes to turn the game around with the extra man.

Whereby that was no longer true shortly before the end, because Linus Krajac had to leave the field with red, so the numbers were equal again and Ratingen brought the 2:1 over time.

Westfalenpokal

The quarter-finals of the Westfalenpokal are complete except for one participant. On Wednesday evening, Regionalliga outfit FC Gütersloh beat Oberliga team SV Lippstadt 1:0 (1:0).

From the outset, FCG took control and were quickly rewarded. Allan Firmino Dantas scored the deserved opener after 19 minutes – the 1:0 was also the half-time score.

After the break, the game became more even. Especially in the last 20 minutes, Lippstadt tried everything to get the 1-1, but FCG held on to the narrow 1-0 and is now in the last eight teams.
