The Gütersloh side won 4:2 in the Oberliga Westfalen make-up game between TuS Erndtebrück and FC Gütersloh to stay in touch with the top flight.
TuS Erndtebrück and FC Gütersloh won 2:4 (1:2) in a Westphalia Oberliga make-up match. After two recent defeats, 0:1 against Eintracht Rheine and 2:3 against Sportfreunde Lotte, FC Gütersloh lost touch with the promotion places, but now the Gütersloh team got back on track.
While the first snow of the winter lay on the sidelines, it did not take long for the players of both teams to get up to temperature. For coach Julian Hesse’s team, however, the game did not start at all to the coach’s liking. Already in the first minute, Chihiro Inada gave the hosts the lead with his 4th goal of the season.
Gütersloh did not let the deficit show, however, and struck back after another two minutes in the match. Alexander Bannink scored after an assist from Allan Firmino Dantas. The game calmed down after the two early goals before it was the Bannink show.
Bannink was crowned player of the match. First, the striker scored the 2:1 for Gütersloh in the 36th minute. Markus Esko stole the ball from Erndtebrück in the build-up and Bannink slid into the far corner past TuS goalkeeper Jonas Brammen. Then, in the 53rd minute, he headed a cross into the left-hand corner with the help of the post to complete his hat-trick.
The last two goals were scored by Erndtebrück. First, Sosuke Fukuchi scored into his own net to make it 1:4 (86th). Then Fuad Dodic scored the final goal to make it 2:4 (91.).
Gütersloh thus moved up one place to 6th, passing Eintracht Rheine, who previously held that position. SC Paderborn’s U21s are tied for fifth place, the first promotion spot held by Preußen Münster’s second team is four points away, while leaders TuS Bövinghausen are seven.
TuS Erndtebrück, on the other hand, must look down in the table. Michael Müller’s team is four points ahead of the first relegation place, where Dellbrücker SC is located.
