Haching and Cologne sign talents, Aue fans protest, Aachen test players

There’s a lot going on at the 20 third division clubs these days. At FC Erzgebirge Aue, for example, the fans are protesting because of a test match

For July 26, FC Erzgebirge Aue has arranged a test match against Bundesliga team and Champions League representative RB Leipzig.

Some fans of the third division club are up in arms and are calling for the match to be canceled. But this will not happen.

Aue managing director of sport Matthias Heidrich told the “Freie Presse”: “We would like to play the game. ”

If the match goes ahead, the active Erzgebirge fan scene is even threatening to end its cooperation with the club. Agreements regarding choreographies or other fan activities will no longer be discussed with those responsible. It remains to be seen how the Aue fans will behave during and after the RB test.

3rd division: Unterhaching sign center forward from Aue

Cue Erzgebirge Aue: Spielvereinigung Unterhaching have signed Moritz Ruprecht. The 19-year-old center forward will strengthen the Munich suburbs’ offense with immediate effect and most recently played for FC Erzgebirge Aue.

The talented right-footed Ruprecht, born on April 15, 2005, was under contract with the Saxons until June 30, 2024, where he last played in the U19s. The 1.89-metre attacker’s career began at 1. FC Eichsfeld, from where he moved to Aue in 2020 and played in the U17 Bundesliga North/Northeast.

Moritz gained valuable experience in the U17s in the 2021/22 season. He made 18 appearances, scored two goals and provided one assist. In the 2023/24 season, Ruprecht impressed with the Violets in the U19 regional youth league, scoring 21 goals in 22 games and providing four assists. Now he can prove his talent in the 3rd division for Haching.

“Moritz is a promising young striker who has proven his ability in the U19 regional league in particular. His size, dynamism and robustness will strengthen our team. We are confident that he will continue to grow with us and can play a valuable role in the future,” said Unterhaching sporting director Markus Schwabl.

Viktoria Köln: Third division club binds next home-grown talent to the club

Viktoria Köln have signed Oskar Hill, another player from their own youth academy, to the first team. The 18-year-old keeper will not only remain a mainstay of the U19s, but will also become a fully-fledged member of the professional squad at the third-division club from the “Schäl Sick.”

“I’m super proud that it’s finally worked out and that I’ve signed my first professional contract. I’m very grateful to the club and the coaches who have accompanied me along the way and I’m now looking forward to my final year with the U19s and my time with the pros,” said Hill after signing his contract.

Hill moved to Cologne-Höhenberg in 2019 at the age of 13. The talented goalkeeper made his debut in the A-Junior Bundesliga as a 15-year-old and was promptly the only goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet against the eventual West German champions Borussia Dortmund in 2021/22. Hill was promoted to the Bundesliga as a regular keeper with the U17s in 2022/23 and subsequently also impressed in the A-Junior Bundesliga. In the recent past, the Cologne native, who was born in 2006, was already accompanied by Kevin Rauhut, who will now continue to support Hill as goalkeeping coach.
