Kevin Hagemann from Wuppertaler SV has had an outstanding year so far, scoring six times in the last three league games.
Wuppertaler SV’s 2-0 win on matchday 22 of the Regionalliga West means they remain among the league leaders. Kevin Hagemann was once again WSV’s “Man of the Match” as the 33-year-old scored the first goal himself with a spectacular volley and set up the second goal for his teammate Lukas Demming.
For Wuppertal, the win against Cologne was their third victory in their third competitive match this year. WSV have won their last four league games in total. “It was a deserved win for us. We struggled to get into the game and didn’t have much of a grip, but it got better with time and after the first goal,” said Hagemann. “We made tactical changes in the second half and didn’t concede much. As a result, we left the pitch as deserved winners.”
Hagemann has already been a guarantor of his team’s current success in recent weeks. Hagemann scored twice in the 3-1 win against FC Schalke 04 U23 at the start of the competitive season and in the 4-0 win against SV Rödinghausen last matchday. The veteran revealed the secret of his brilliant form to RevierSport.
“It’s always extremely important to stay injury-free, because without injuries you get a certain routine into the game. This automatically gives you match practice and that’s crucial if you want to perform at your best,” explained Hagemann. “I’ve often been out of action due to major injuries and have gained a lot of experience as a result. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case last winter break, so I’m happy that things are going well at the moment.”
As a team, we simply have to carry over the momentum from the last few weeks and if we can do what we’ve done in the last few games, then we’ll be hard to beat.

Thanks to the winning streak, the fans of Wuppertaler SV can once again dream of promotion to the 3rd division and the coming weeks seem predestined to continue this streak. In the coming matchdays, Wuppertal play FC Wegberg-Beeck (15th), SC Paderborn II (11th), SC Wiedenbrück (13th) and SV Lippstadt (17th), before the game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen is a real cracker.
Despite the apparently good starting position, Hagemann urges caution: “In this league, it’s always difficult to say whether an opponent will be easy or difficult. As a team, we simply have to take the momentum from the last few weeks with us and if we can call up what we’ve done in the last few games, then we’ll be difficult to beat. We’ll see where it goes. “
