The quarterfinals of the Middle Rhine Cup have been drawn. While last year’s winners Viktoria Cologne have been handed a manageable draw, Alemannia Aachen face a tough challenge.
The quarterfinal matches in the Mittelrhein Cup were drawn on Tuesday evening at the Hennef Sports School. Regionalliga West leaders Fortuna Cologne drew the big prize and will face third-division side Alemannia Aachen in the last eight.
As the lower-ranked club always has home advantage according to the cup rules, the match will take place at Cologne’s Südstadion. The exact date has yet to be confirmed, but the quarterfinal matches will be played between February 24 and 26.
The Kaiserstädter already visited Cologne’s Südstadt last season. In the cup semi-final, Alemannia won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Charlison Benschop after a real cup thriller in which they were outnumbered, thus celebrating their entry into the cup final. There, however, they were defeated 2-3 (2-1) by Viktoria Cologne.
The defending champions are away to Siegburger SV and are the clear favorites against the Mittelrheinliga side. SSV Jan Wellem, the last remaining Bezirksliga team in the competition, face Eintracht Hohkeppel at their home arena at Rübezahlwald and are hoping for another surprise.
Bonner SC has been given a more than manageable task in the form of Landesliga club SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind. Reaching the semifinals is a must for head coach Björn Mehnert’s team. Then the Regionalliga team would be just one win away from the final, which they last reached in the 2023/24 season, losing 2-4 to Alemannia Aachen. The quarterfinal matches in the Mittelrhein Cup:
SSV Jan Wellem – SV Eintracht Hohkeppel
Siegburger SV – Viktoria Cologne
SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind – Bonner SC
Fortuna Cologne – Alemannia Aachen
The provisional schedule:
Quarterfinals: February 24 to 26, 2026
Semifinals: March 24 to 26, 2026
Final: May 23, 2026
