On Easter Sunday, two games of the 27th matchday in the Regionalliga West were on the program. However, goals were in short supply.
FC Wegberg-Beeck and 1. FC Köln II as well as SC Paderborn II and SV Rödinghausen faced each other at the end of the 27th matchday of the Regionalliga West.
While Cologne and SVR could go into their games relatively relaxed due to their position in the table, there was still a lot at stake for their respective opponents. Paderborn could have pulled further away from the relegation places with a win.
FC Wegberg-Beeck could even have leapt above the drop zone with a three-pointer thanks to SV Lippstadt 08’s defeat and Borussia Mönchengladbach II’s draw.
However, Wegberg-Beeck’s hopes did not last too long. The visitors took the lead after just 24 minutes. The Cologne youngsters’ only goal was to last until the final whistle. The game ended with the hosts still short-handed after Justin Hoffmanns was shown a red card (90′). A doubly bitter afternoon.
The spectators at Paderborn II against SV Rödinghausen certainly wouldn’t have complained about a goal either. They went into the break without a goal. That was not to change until the final whistle.
None of the teams were able to change their position in the table over the Easter weekend and remained in the same position. The next chance to change that will come next week.
FC Wegberg-Beeck have the most difficult draw ahead of them. The relegation-threatened team will face league leaders and almost certain promotion to the 3rd division Alemannia Aachen (April 8, 2 p.m.).
The two second teams of 1. FC Köln and SC Paderborn will meet on Friday evening (April 5, 7:30 p.m.). At the same time, SV Rödinghausen will take on SC Wiedenbrück
