Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has a new manager! The new head of sport has been found, as has Patrick Bauder’s new role, and the board is being expanded. Now the search is on for a new coach.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen will expand and rejuvenate its board. This is the result of a joint rotation meeting of the supervisory board and management board on Monday evening, at which the sporting management was also reorganized.
Contrary to his own original plans, Hajo Sommers will remain at the club until the end of the upcoming 2024/2025 season at the unanimous request of the management bodies and will coordinate the work of the extended board of five members.
He will continue to be supported by Klaus-Werner Conrad, who will assume responsibility for sport. The Supervisory Board appointed Patrick Bauder (34) as a new member of the Executive Board, who will hold the position of sporting director until the end of the season and then concentrate on his work as head of the office and the finance department on the Executive Board. His contract – like that of former coach Jörn Nowak – is valid until June 30, 2025.
Maximilian Gregorius (34), Head of Marketing and Sales, will move up to the Executive Board and will be responsible for this area of the Executive Board in the future
At Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, the past few weeks have unfortunately been characterized by some unrest in non-sporting areas. With our jointly agreed and initiated measures, we want to send a signal of a new beginning in our anniversary year so that we can once again focus on what is important to us: Sport!
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Damian Schröder
Robert Batora, Managing Director of Meisterbetrieb Batora GmbH from Oberhausen, will join the Board as its fifth member and will primarily be responsible for sponsorship and sponsor management. The 33-year-old has been associated with the club as a fan and sponsor for many years.
Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano is the new RWO Head of Sport
“We want to consciously distribute responsibility and tasks across more shoulders and rely on a good mix of experience and fresh ideas,” say Hajo Sommers and Damian Schröder, describing the new organizational set-up.
This is rounded off by the appointment of Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano – Forecasting reported exclusively – as the new sporting director, who will take up his role immediately.
The 34-year-old was most recently sporting director at Oberliga club VfB 03 Hilden. Lichtenwimmer himself played for VfB Hilden and Wuppertaler SV in the Oberliga Niederrhein. He holds a DFB B license and has studied sports management and sports communication, among other things.
His first tasks at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, in collaboration with Patrick Bauder and Klaus-Werner Conrad, will include squad planning and filling the head coach position. Forecasting recently named several candidates in this regard.
In conclusion, supervisory board chairman Damian Schröder emphasized: “The past few weeks at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen have unfortunately been characterized by some unrest in non-sporting areas. With our jointly agreed and initiated measures, we want to send a signal of a new beginning in our anniversary year so that we can once again focus on what is important to us: Sport!”
