Second-division soccer club 1. FC Nuremberg is being asked to pay for the misconduct of its fans – and quite a hefty one at that.
The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) imposed a fine of 72,400 euros on the club, whose fans had fired “at least 90 Bengal flares and 20 firecrackers from a fireworks battery” at the start of the league match at 1. FC Kaiserslautern at the beginning of September, according to the DFB.
During the match, the supporters set off further pyrotechnics. The verdict is legally binding following the club’s approval.
