Second division soccer club 1. FC Nürnberg has been hit with a hefty fine for the misconduct of its fans.
The German Football Association (DFB) sports court has imposed a fine of €72,400 on the club, whose fans, according to the DFB, fired “at least 90 Bengal fires and 20 firecrackers from a fireworks battery” at the start of the league match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in early September.
During the game, the fans set off more pyrotechnic devices. The ruling is final after approval by the club.
