Hertha dominate Elversberg, Paderborn down Hannover

Hertha are on a roll and climb to eighth place. Schalke remain in 16th place despite their success against Osnabrück.

Bundesliga relegated team Hertha BSC continues to push forward in the 2nd Bundesliga. With the 5:1 (2:1) victory against promoted SV Elversberg on Sunday, the Berliners remained undefeated for the fifth game in a row and achieved their best position of the season so far in eighth place. Florian Niederlechner (23rd/61st/67th), who has now scored five goals in three games, Linus Gechter (12th) and Jonjoe Kenny (71st) scored to secure Hertha’s sixth win of the season.

Karlsruher SC and Hansa Rostock shared the points in a 2:2 (1:2) draw in the battle to stay in the league. FC Schalke 04 thus remain in 16th place despite their 4-0 win against VfL Osnabrück. Igor Matanovic (45) and Budu Siwsiwadse (81) rescued a draw for KSC after trailing 2-0.

Paderborn score late against ten Hanoverians

In Sunday’s third match, SC Paderborn secured a 1-0 (0-0) victory over Hannover 96 thanks to a late goal from Florent Muslija (90.+1), who were playing short-handed from the 20th minute onwards after Louis Schaub was sent off. As a result, the club from Lower Saxony remain winless against the East Westphalians in the 2nd division.
