How Lettau convinced de Wit and Sissoko to join VfL Bochum

In our new Talk episode, our reporters talk about VfL Bochum’s summer transfer window, what’s still to come and what the fixture list looks like

With Dani de Wit and Ibrahima Sissoko, VfL Bochum have signed two top players in the transfer window so far. The transfer budget is quite limited. Nevertheless, both players have joined the Bundesliga club. How was that possible? “With a clear plan that sports director Marc Lettau showed them,” explains VfL reporter Stefan Döring in our new episode of “Stadtwerke-Bochum-VfL-Talk anne Castroper” from WAZ and Radio Bochum

Together with VfL reporters Ralf Ritter and Döring, presenter Annalena Fedtke talks about the current transfer phase and the squad for the fourth Bundesliga season in a row. Ritter has already made up his mind: “The squad is good. The rebuild offers more opportunities than risks.” He explains in his comments what makes him so certain. The three also talk about returnee Patrick Drewes, who VfL Bochum brought back to Castroper Straße from Karlsruher SC for a low six-figure transfer fee.

For both reporters it is clear: “The Patrick Drewes who is now back is another Patrick Drewes who left VfL Bochum.” Nevertheless, VfL is still looking for a keeper. For our reporters, however, it is clear that he will probably only join the team in August. They also give an insight into what else is set to happen to the squad

Why the club didn’t go all-in with Schlotterbeck

Keven Schlotterbeck, who has since joined FC Augsburg, has been the subject of heated discussions in the past. VfL did not use the exit clause in Schlotterbeck’s contract with SC Freiburg. Was that a mistake? Ralf Ritter says that Bochum could have taken a risk with the player. Döring disagrees

In the new Talk episode, our reporters also talk to Annalena Fedtke about the Bundesliga fixture list published on Thursday, which already contains a highlight for many VfL Bochum fans in the first home game. Kevin Stöger returns to Castroper Straße with Borussia Mönchengladbach. Everyone in the studio agrees that the reception will be positive. But what is the overall assessment of the fixture list? After all, there is one crux: Bochum play both their first and last game away from home. The three also talk about the new kits and give an outlook on the first test matches
