KFC Uerdingen have made a poor start to the Oberliga season and the cup highlight against MSV Duisburg is still a month away. But already almost sold out.
Despite the miserable start to the season, KFC Uerdingen’s fans continue to turn out in force.
For the Niederrheinpokal highlight on 11 October (7.30 p.m.) against third division side MSV Duisburg, the Grotenburg is as good as sold out after only a few hours – as a reminder: the stadium capacity is currently only 2000 seats.
“WOW! 1,750 tickets for the cup match against MSV Duisburg are already sold out after only three hours. Currently, only club members and season ticket holders can purchase tickets for the cup match! So if you still want a ticket, you should hurry,” reads the KFC Uerdingen Facebook page.
If coach and sporting director Marcus John’s team wants to sniff at or even pull off a surprise against Duisburg in a month’s time, they should gain a lot of self-confidence before then. After five Oberliga matches, KFC have just five points – one win, two draws.
Next Friday (15 September, 8 p.m.), KFC will have another chance to improve their points tally. They will then travel to 1. FC Kleve on the Lower Rhine.
