“I have complete faith in my team” – Sterkrade-Nord aims for another derby victory

Spvgg. Sterkrade-Nord was able to halt its negative trend of three consecutive defeats. Now, coach Oguzhan Cuhaci’s team is preparing for its next derby.

The last four matches for Spvgg. Sterkrade-Nord in District League Group 6 were tough, as the Oberhausen team had to play against teams from the top seven each time.

After three narrow defeats, coach Oguzhan Cuhaci’s team bounced back with a strong 3-2 away win in the derby against Arminia Klosterhardt, who had been undefeated until then.

Sterkrade are currently in ninth place in the table, safely mid-table. “Overall, I’m satisfied, but as a coach, you always have something to complain about. Overall, we have performed solidly and there have also been some very narrow defeats,” says Cuhaci about the start of the season.

What has been missing in the games, especially against the top teams, is ruthlessness. This could be due to the significant rejuvenation of the squad, as the coach reports: “We have integrated many A-juniors into our team. In recent weeks, we have mainly played against very experienced teams, including those from higher leagues.”

However, one game, namely the one on match day 7 against VfB Frohnhausen, has to be replayed. ” The referee gave the same player two yellow cards instead of a red card,” says Cuhaci. The new date for this match is Saturday, November 22, at 4 p.m. On Sunday (October 26, 3:30 p.m.), there will be another city derby when SpVgg. Sterkrade 06/07 comes to town. The opponents are coming off four wins in a row, but Cuhaci is still feeling aggressive: “We’re going for the win. Playing at home is already a plus. My team is confident enough with the derby win behind them, and I’m not worried that they’ll slack off now.”

The Sterkrade coach has to deal with a few absences. In addition to three long-term injuries, one or two players are also missing due to illness or vacation. “But that’s all manageable for us. The other guys are all capable of playing at the district league level. I have every confidence in my team. And for the upcoming game, you have to be fired up, and that’s definitely the case with my team,” Cuhaci emphasized with regard to the next match.
