In the 3rd division, 1. FC Saarbrücken has a discussion about the coach. Arminia coach Kniat supports him after the 0-0 draw.
There is unrest in the stands at 1. FC Saarbrücken. Because of the 0-0 at home against Arminia Bielefeld in the 3rd division, there were again calls for the coach to be sacked.
The situation is clear: Saarbrücken want to play for promotion and the season is not going well so far. At home, they have only scored five points from five games.
Nevertheless, the top places are not far away. Only three points separate the eighth place in the table from second and third place, and six separate them from leaders Dynamo Dresden.
As always in the 3rd division, the gap between top and bottom is very small. Nevertheless, Saarbrücken’s fans have been dissatisfied for weeks – and they let coach Rüdiger Ziehl know.
After the 0-0 draw, he also said to “MagentaSport”: “If we lose the game, it escalates. It surprises me a lot after the draw and the courageous game of our team. We clearly made a few mistakes. In the first half, we were more on the back foot in the fast-paced duel, in the second half, it was Arminia. We showed a different face than against Cottbus. Not everything worked, but we were almost flawless in defense. We kept a clean sheet. It certainly wasn’t a treat.”
Maybe that bothered the fans, and some of the visitors also found the dual role of the coach a thorn in the side, because Ziehl is also the manager of FCS.
I don’t think these chants are okay. When Saarbrücken win, they’re up there with the top teams. People should keep their mouths shut. I’ll be honest about this
Michél Kniat
In any case, Ziehl received support from his counterpart, because Arminia coach Michél Kniat said: “I don’t think these calls are okay. If Saarbrücken win, they’re up there with the best. People should keep their mouths shut.”
He also had an opinion about the game, which he saw partially confirmed: “We didn’t get into the game well. I was more satisfied in the second half. It wasn’t our best game, but we could have done more. We could have taken more risks. We have to accept that criticism. Our old penalty woes have returned. We should have gotten two penalties this time. We have to live with the referee’s mistakes. We have to play a bit better. Then it will work.”
