SV Westfalia Rhynern is once again top of the table in the Oberliga Westfalen and still without a defeat. Coach Michael Kaminski explains the stability.
In terms of results, it was close again. SV Westfalia Rhynern won 2-1 against SG Finnentrop-Bamenohl on matchday 11 of the Oberliga Westfalen. In the last seven games, coach Michael Kaminski’s team has never scored more than two goals. Nevertheless, after eleven match days, they are top of the Oberliga Westfalen table.
“The team has worked hard for that. I’m not worried at all that it will let up,” explains Rhynern coach Kaminski. “The team is characterised by an irrepressible will. It is a nice snapshot that we are unbeaten after eleven games,” the 38-year-old is pleased to say.
One of his team’s hallmarks is its superb defence – six goals conceded is the best in the league. Incidentally, that was precisely the focus of the pre-season preparations.
Another: team unity. “There are about ten players who are the face of the club. These players integrate the new players and help them identify with the club,” explains Kaminski. In addition, they also pay attention to the personality of potential new signings.
“Nobody takes himself more seriously than he is. And we in the coaching team try to treat all players equally,” adds the Rhynern coach. It works amazingly well. They lead the Oberliga ahead of Bövinghausen, ahead of promotion favourites Gütersloh (sixth place).
After eleven games, a top match against Gütersloh – we’ve earned it. Gütersloh will definitely bring 150, 200 fans.

Those same Gütersloh players, who are knocking on the door again after a difficult start to the season, are guests in Rhynern next Sunday (30.10.). Kick-off is at 3 p.m. and Rhynern coach Kaminski is looking forward to the top game: “After eleven games, a top game against Gütersloh – we’ve earned that. Gütersloh will definitely bring 150, 200 fans. That’s a great thing.”
By the way, on the day before last, FC Gütersloh won 4:1 against the then league leader TuS Bövinghausen. Will they score as many goals in Rhynern next Sunday? Unlikely. SVW’s defence works particularly well at home: they have conceded only one goal in five home games.
