Despite Alemannia Aachen’s lead, 1. FC Bocholt still has a chance of winning the 3rd division. Personnel planning is progressing. One ex-Schalker is staying in any case.
1. FC Bocholt can also count on its central midfielder Bogdan Shubin in the coming season. This was announced by the “Schwatten” on Thursday, April 4. His original contract would have expired at the end of the season.
“I’m happy to have been given the chance here. That was not a given after my difficult year at Schalke. I feel very comfortable in Bocholt. It’s just great fun to play with this team and to play in front of our great fans in this special atmosphere at the Hünting. We still have a lot of plans together,” said Shubin in a club statement.
The 21-year-old came through FC Schalke 04’s youth ranks from the U16s onwards after joining from TuS Koblenz in the summer of 2018. In the summer of 2022, he made the leap into FC Schalke 04’s regional league team, but did not make any appearances.
He then moved to the Hünting before the current season, where things should go much better for Shubin. The midfielder, who was born in Donetsk (Ukraine), has made 27 appearances (24 times in the Regionalliga West, three times in the Lower Rhine Cup). He has three goals and one assist to his name.
1. FC Bocholt: Schorch welcomes Shubin extension
He is a key player for the “Schwatten”. This is also confirmed by Christopher Schorch, Managing Director of Sport and Organization at 1. FC Bocholt: “Bogdan has developed excellently with us and is now an absolute top performer. With his strength in running and tackling as well as his great technique, he has played a significant role in our strong season.”
He continued: “We are very happy to have retained another important pillar of our team in ‘Shubi’ so that we can continue to attack with a strong squad in the new season. “
It seems logical for Schorch to focus on the new season in his statement. Bocholt may be third, but league leaders Alemannia Aachen have an eleven-point lead. The direct duel is still pending, but if the constellation is favorable from Alemannia’s point of view, promotion could already be certain after the 29th matchday.
Bocholt also announced that the terms of Shubin’s contract extension have not been disclosed.
