Since Hüzeyfe Dogan took over as coach at Wuppertaler SV, things have been going really well for the red and blue team. WSV win the winter in third place in the table.
Hüzeyfe Dogan has been the coach of Wuppertaler SV for eleven games and he has a strong record.
Under Björn Mehnert’s successor, WSV won seven games, drew once and lost only two matches. Wuppertal also advanced to the Niederrheinpokal quarter-finals, where the big match against arch-rivals Rot-Weiss Essen awaits in the new year.
RevierSport spoke to Hüzeyfe Dogan.
Coach Hüzeyfe Dogan on…
… the first half of the season in the Regionalliga West: “I only played in the last eleven games. Of course, that was very, very good. We played the way the club wanted us to from the beginning of the season. We are in a top position in the table, which is where Wuppertal wanted to be. The fact that the gap to Münster is large has something to do with the weak start, of course, but also with the stability of Preußen Münster. Let’s see if we can get close again in 2023.”
…personnel changes during the winter break: “At the moment, that’s not an issue. But we have the whole of January. Something can always happen there.”
…the goals for 2023: “Quite simple: the best thing is to continue where we left off. We want to continue to be successful in the league, get closer to Münster and attack again. Of course, we also want to go as far as possible in the cup. We’re looking forward to a big highlight against Rot-Weiss Essen. I expect the stadium to be really well filled.”
…the preparation: “We start on 2 January. At the end of January, we’ll fly to Belek for a week of training in Turkey. At the beginning of the month, we have the Indoor City Championships in Wuppertal. We will send a mixed team of regional league and U19 players to play there. We have also arranged two test matches with TuS Bövinghausen and FSV Frankfurt. In addition, there will be one or two test matches during the training camp. “
