Third division club Rot-Weiss Essen has to cope with the absence of Thomas Eisfeld. Meanwhile, the Lower Rhine Cup match against St. Tönis has been scheduled.
During the international break, third division club Rot-Weiss Essen could not cover themselves with glory. In the test match at the U23 of TSG Hoffenheim from the Regionalliga Südwest, they ultimately lost 1:5. In addition to the match, RWE also lost an important player, as the club has now confirmed.
Midfielder Thomas Eisfeld, who injured his foot early in the game and had to leave the pitch after only twelve minutes, has suffered a partial tear of the syndesmosis and a pulled inner ligament.
Eisfeld is therefore expected to miss four to five weeks for his coach Christoph Dabrowski. Against Preußen Münster, the 30-year-old had scored the 1:0 winning goal after being substituted and was in the starting eleven in three games this season. Dabrowski will now miss this option for the time being.
During Eisfeld’s absence, RWE will also play in the next round of the Niederrheinpokal. The Essen team’s opponents will be SC St. Tönis. This match has now also been scheduled. The match will kick off in Tönisvorst on Wednesday, 27 September at 7 pm.
Next weekend, Rot-Weiss Essen will face their next task in the 3rd division. On Saturday (16 September, 2 p.m.) RWE will host SSV Jahn Regensburg at Hafenstraße.
