Interim solution confirmed – coach and sporting director bid farewell with these words

TSV 1860 Munich is preparing for its next match with an interim coach. Former coach Patrick Glöckner and managing director Christian Werner have bid farewell.

The 39-year-old coach of TSV 1860 Munich’s Bayernliga team, Alper Kayabunar, will become interim coach of the Lions’ professional team. He will make his debut on Wednesday in the home game against FC Viktoria Köln. After ten games in the Bayernliga Süd, TSV 1860 Munich’s second team is at the top of the table. With 25 points, it has a three-point lead over TSV Landsberg, which has played one more game. “Alper has gained the necessary experience from more than 100 games in the Regionalliga and four games in the 3. Liga. In addition, he has impressed both professionally and personally with his work with the U21s,” says Manfred Paula, interim managing director of TSV 1860 Munich. “Starting tomorrow, Alper will work with the current coaching staff to prepare the team for the match against FC Viktoria Köln.”

According to Forecasting information, those responsible are also considering coaches who are currently without a club, including Thomas Wörle (most recently SSV Ulm 1846), Robert Klauß (most recently Rapid Vienna), and Markus Anfang (most recently 1. FC Kaiserslautern). In addition, the Lions are said to have put out feelers for Eugen Polanski in recent weeks. However, the Gladbach U23 coach has been promoted to interim coach of the Foals’ Bundesliga professionals. It remains to be seen how long Polanski will continue in this role. Perhaps the former Polish international and German U21 captain will still be in the running as 1860 coach.

I will never forget you and this time, and I wish the Lions all the best for the future – both in terms of sport and on a personal level.
Once a Lion, always a Lion. Patrick Glöckner I will never forget you and this time, and I wish the Lions all the best for the future – both in terms of sport and on a personal level. Once a Lion, always a Lion.
I quickly fell in love with the very special charm of TSV 1860 Munich and, over time, became a true Lion who put his heart and soul into this club. (…) Now our time together is coming to an end. I would like to thank everyone who supported me along the way and stood by my side. Thank you to the team, the coaching staff, the committees, the media, and the employees of TSV 1860 Munich. I am proud to have been a part of this club.“

Sacked coach Patrick Glöckner also had some warm words for the fans: ”Hello dear Löwen fans, today I would like to say goodbye to you with a few personal words. It is with a heavy heart but full of gratitude that I look back on our time together. It was a great honor and a real privilege for me to be head coach of TSV 1860 Munich. You, dear Lions fans, made this journey something very special. No matter where we played, your colors, your chants, and your passion made every stadium shake. This energy carried us as a team—in moments of joy as well as in difficult phases. (…) Even though my time here is ending earlier than I would have liked, I am filled with pride and gratitude. (…) I will never forget you and this time, and I wish the Lions only the best for the future—both athletically and personally. Once a Lion – always a Lion.”
