What had been hinted at in recent days is now official. Taylan Bulut is leaving Schalke 04 and heading to Istanbul. As FC Schalke 04 announced on Saturday evening, August 16, right-back Taylan Bulut is leaving the club and moving to Turkish top club Besiktas Istanbul. The transfer is likely to bring the Royal Blues a transfer fee in the mid to high single-digit million range – income that Schalke can put to good use.

“As a club, we have been in close contact with Taylan and his advisor over the past few weeks. The move to Besiktas is the right decision for everyone, both from a sporting and financial perspective,” said Youri Mulder, Director of Professional Football at FC Schalke 04.
He added: “The fact that Taylan is moving to a top Turkish team is testament to the excellent training he received at the Knappenschmiede academy. Together with all his teammates from the past five years, I would like to thank Taylan for his commitment and wish him all the best for his personal and sporting future.”
Born in Eschweiler in 2006, Bulut played for Germania Dürwiß from 2010 to 2013. He then spent seven years at Bayer 04 Leverkusen before the defensive player moved to FC Schalke 04’s U15 team. In the U17 age group, the junior national player won the German B-Junior Championship with S04 in 2022 and the European Championship with the DFB team in 2023. The right-footed player has made a total of 33 junior international appearances to date. Bulut played a total of 29 competitive games for FC Schalke 04’s licensed team. “I am very grateful to Schalke for the years I had here. The first training sessions with Willi Landgraf, the German U17 championship, and my time in the U19 team with Norbert Elgert and then with the pros: I look back on many great moments,“ said Bulut on his departure. ”I wish the club and its loyal fans all the best for the season.”
Schalke will face fourth-division side Lokomotive Leipzig in the DFB Cup on Sunday, August 17, at 3:30 p.m.
