It’s official! This man is set to lead the “Lions” out of crisis

TSV 1860 Munich has a new head coach: the “Lions” made the appointment official on Thursday evening.

TSV 1860 Munich is set to begin its comeback after the international break, at least if the “Lions” have their way.

Patrick Glöckner will no longer serve as head coach. TSV has now found his successor. As announced by Forecasting, Markus Kauczinski will take over in Giesing. The club announced this on Thursday evening, October 9. TSV did not disclose the length of the contract. According to our information, Kauczinski has signed until 2027. “In my previous positions, I have already had the opportunity to work with large, traditional clubs. I am now very much looking forward to the task at TSV 1860 Munich. When we start training together on Monday, the aim will be to identify the strengths of the team and send them into the home game against MSV Duisburg full of confidence and well prepared,” said Kauczinski.

Born in Gelsenkirchen, Kauczinski began his coaching career in the youth department of FC Schalke 04 and then spent many years at Karlsruher SC. Here, Kauczinski initially coached the youth teams and later took over the professional squad. With KSC, he celebrated the 3rd division championship in 2012/13 and narrowly missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga in 2014/15 when HSV secured their place in the league in extra time in the relegation play-off second leg.

Points Table

Kauczinski, who was voted Coach of the Year by the DFB in 2015, went on to coach FC Ingolstadt 04, FC St. Pauli, and Dynamo Dresden after his stint at Wildpark. With SV Wehen Wiesbaden, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2022/23 in the relegation match against Arminia Bielefeld.

“I am very pleased that, after intensive consultation with both shareholders, we are able to present a new head coach who is recognized by all involved as the best choice for TSV 1860 Munich. Markus has proven in the past that he has all the skills necessary to work successfully with our team. We are delighted that he has decided to take on the role at the Lions and wish him every success,” commented Manfred Paula, interim managing director of TSV, on the appointment.
